On Sunday, January 14, 2018, Delcina "Delcey" Marie McDonough (nee Tremblay), loving daughter of George and Emelda (nee Frenette), passed away peacefully at Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 85.   She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  

Delcey, from Tremblay Settlement, raised her family in Ontario and returned to New Brunswick shortly after the passing of her beloved husband, Kervin, in 1993.  She is survived by her devoted children and their spouses, Barry and Maureen McDonough of Delta, BC and Maura and Stan Goch of Simcoe, ON, and her four loving grandchildren Kevin, Madeline, Aidan, and Samantha.  

Delcey lived a life of adventure, laughter, and love.  She married Kervin, a prospector, and part of a prolific Canadian mining family, who came east to participate in the Bathurst claim-staking rush of the early 1950's.  She moved to his home in Toronto, ON and accompanied him on his many jobs throughout Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Ireland.  She enjoyed the fun and excitement that came with the Exploration industry of the day and was well-known by the colourful personalities that inhabited it.  She was particularly devoted to her late father-in-law, Peter, who was her "partner in crime".   

While living in Toronto, she welcomed many of her immediate and extended family who moved there either temporarily or permanently.  Once she and Kervin adopted their children she devoted herself to raising them (sometimes as a single parent during his extended work absences).  Summers, however, were spent around whichever project was occupying Kervin that year.  This included eight summers around Bathurst where she and her children enjoyed their extended family and a rental cottage on Youghall Beach.    

In 1978, the family moved to St. Catharines, ON where she lived until she returned to New Brunswick in 1996 to fulfill her dream of living on the Atlantic Ocean.  She lived in Pointe-Verte before moving to Bathurst (Villa Chaleur) and finally to the Manoir Brise de l'Oasis.  Despite her strong independent streak, she cherished her extended family especially her nieces (Yvonne, Lise, Imelda, Jacqueline, and Donalda) who ensured she was well-cared for between visits from her children.  

Her children, Barry and Maura, would like to take this opportunity to thank her gracious family who cherished "Ma tante, Pitoune" and gave her so much joy.  The love she received from those around her lessened the concern and sadness they felt from being so far away.  Delcey's immediate family would also like to thank the kind and generous staff of the Brise de l'Oasis who gently cared for her over the past three years.  

As per Delcina's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services at this time.  A gathering will be held at a later date and time to be announced.  Her family requests that any donations in her memory please be made to the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation.  Her arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) of Bathurst.
