The death of Mrs. Opal Melanson, 96, of King Ave., Bathurst, wife of the late Andrew Melanson occurred Monday 23 May 2005 at the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Gertrude (Lavigne) Simmons.
She was a life long member of St. Theresa Council Catholic Women's League, was a volunteer at the Chaleur Regional Hospital and the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes.
Her husband Andrew Melanson died in 1960.
She is survived by two Sons: Edmund Melanson (Peggy) and William Melanson (Frances) both of Bathurst. Two Daughters: Lorna Romaine (late John), London, Ont., Joan Lavigne (Robert) of Bathurst. Two Brothers: Raymond and Donald Simmons both of St-Simon,NB. Five Sisters: Magararet Crawford, St-Thomas, Ont., Barbara Albert (Aurele) and Doris Simmons. Both of St-Simon, NB, and Elsie Chiasson (Alban) of Tracadie and Evelyn English (late Douglas) of London, On. Twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by a children; Raymond and Majorie Aubé.
There will be no visitation at the Elhatton Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, 26 May 2005 at 2:00pm from St.Theresa Church, King Ave. Interment was at the parish cemetery.
