It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the peaceful passing of Hannelore White, partner of the late Josef Speer, which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, on Friday June 9th, 2023, at the age of 91.
Born in Soest, Germany to the late Andreas Riemen and Elizabeth Haase.
She leaves behind her children: Suzane Cameron of Alberta and Peter White (Susan) of Canobie.
Stepchildren: Irene Fell (John), George Speer, Kathi Close and Johnny Speer (Tammy), all of Ontario.
A large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her stepson Joey Speer and her siblings: Ingrid, Manfred and Edeltraud.
Hannelore grew up in Werl, Germany. Living through the war, she learned to become a hard worker at a young age. She started her working career making Nylons for the house of Dior in Germany. Moving to Canada, she studied Mixology at Georgian College. After her studies she was employed by Schnizel Haus restaurant and later Maude Kurry restaurant in Barrie, Ont. Working up to management position she decided to open her own restaurant, “The Odd Couple” in Waterdown, Ont. In her later years she moved to Bathurst and fell in love with the Maritimes. She was very strong, confident, caring and loving, her family was very important to her.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes for all their wonderful care they gave to her. A thank you to her friends who visited and cared for her at her home and at the Foyer.
The family will receive family and friends at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) on Tuesday, June 13th, 2023 from 7 to 9 p.m. only.
