It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Julia Blanchard, which occurred on July 11th at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst at the age of 94.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late John Hannan and Domithilde (Hachey) Hannan.
She is survived by her daughters Louise Brown (Lawrence), Joan LeBlanc (Louis), Julie Allain (Rodrique), Laura Quinn (Robert), Ann Marie Duguay (Roger), Mary Jane Pitre (Henry), Paula Hachey (Claude), Theresa Carrier (Edward) and Monique Luce (John).
She is also survived by her brother Leo Hannan (Nicole), sister Theresa Frenette (Ulysse), 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth, son Paul, brothers Gerald, Clifford, Reginald and sister Mary.
With her quiet demeanor and abundance of patience, mom was kept busy raising her 10 children. She lived her life with kindness, humility and compassion and instilled these values in her children. Prior to raising her family, she worked as a hairdresser at Evangeline’s Beauty Salon.
Mom enjoyed spending time with her family and was always ready to take a road trip with her girls at a moment’s notice. She attended mass faithfully, enjoyed knitting, playing cards and early morning walks which she continued until the age of 90. She was a seasoned Rummy-O player and was always ready for a game.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 20th, 2023 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral on St. Andrew Street.
In memory of Julia, a donation may be made to the Bathurst Volunteer Centre or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Rest in peace, mom. You will be dearly missed.
Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
