It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden death of Malcolm Legacy, which occurred at his residence in Salmon Beach on September 19th, 2023 at the age of 81.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Aurele and Elva (Hachey) Legacy.
Besides his wife Carmel Hachey, he is survived by one son, Todd Legacy (Van) of New Market, ON and one daughter, Kerry Prendergast of Moncton.
Grandchildren: Brandon Boyd, Tyler Roy, Tyson Roy and Nathan Prendergast and several great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brothers: Victor (Elizabeth), Hector (Rose Marie) and sisters: Florence Lee (Hong), Isabel Roy (late Clarence) and Lucy Chamberlain (Ronald) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Malcolm was predeceased by his daughter, Eileen Legacy, his grandson, Jamie Legacy and brother, Earl.
Malcolm worked briefly for the former Brunswick Mines but joined the construction industry, working side by side with his brother, Earl. He was a member of the Herman J. Good V.C. Branch No. 18 Royal Canadian Legion, an avid shuffleboard player and a great bowler. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 22nd, 2023 at 2 p.m. from St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Malcolm may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion or a charity of the donor’s choice.
