It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Andy Jamieson, of Bathurst, which occurred suddenly on December 4, 2024, at the age of 72.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Thomas Jamieson and Connie (Scott) Jamieson.
He is survived by his only son, Tommy (Cheryl) Jamieson, two grandchildren, Korie and Brooklyn, one sister, Joan (Harry) Williamson, and two brothers, Allan (Anne Marie) Jamieson and Peter Jamieson, two aunts, Eleanor Scott and Eleanor MacIntosh as well as several nieces and nephews.
Andy was best known as an essential part of the fabric of the East Bathurst community through his involvement and eventual ownership in the family business of Jamieson Save-Easy. Andy was the go-to guy when you needed help or needed to know information about anything. Andy took great pride and loved working in the grocery business. He was particularly fond of the community and customer contact. You could find Andy striking up a conversation with anyone from his best friend to a complete stranger. Anyone that met Andy, loved him.
Anyone who knew Andy, knew he had a wonderful sense of humour. He loved telling stories and jokes. The more he told a joke, the funnier he thought he was.
Andy was generous with his time through volunteering at the United Church suppers, the Terry Fox Elementary School breakfast program, coaching hockey or taking care of others. He was also very generous with donations for local organizations and sports teams. Just as his father, Tommy Sr, Andy was always willing to help those in need.
He was a devoted father and grandfather. He took immense pride in the light of his life, Korie and Brooklyn. His nicknames for them were Miss Precious and Miss Priceless. Andy was always there for anything involving family and could be counted on for daily visits where he would bring treats or snacks for the grandkids, many of which were homemade.
Andy loved anything to do with the outdoors and his camp. He was especially fond of fishing and hunting. He took great pride in tying his own flies for fly fishing.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 9th, 2024 evening from 7-9 p.m. at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Andy’s funeral will be on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024 at 2 p.m. from First United Church, 309 St. Patrick St., Bathurst. The burial will take place in the spring at Highland View Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Andy can be made to the Terry Fox Elementary Breakfast Program or a charity of your choice.
