It is with great sadness that we, the family of Jean (Marie Jeanne) Caissie, 80, announce her passing at Georges Dumont Hospital on March 21st, 2025. Jean passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. 

She was the daughter of the late Irving and Irene Doucet of Bathurst.

She leaves behind her cherished husband of 62 years, Emile, and her loving son, Kevin (Meredith).

Also left to mourn are her pride and joy - her grandchildren - Avery (Troy Scott) and Gavin (Claire Demmings).

Sister, Claudette Lavigne (late Albert Lavigne) and brother, Leonard Doucet (Fern).

Nieces Monique (Gilles Comeau), Michelle Doucet (Marc Manuel) and Darlene Lavigne.

She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law on the Caissie side, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Although born in Bathurst, Jean and her family moved to Miramichi, and then London, Ontario, before returning to Bathurst in 1980. She was a long-time employee of W.J. Kent & Company Limited, spending more than 21 years at the iconic downtown store. She was also a customer service agent for various other businesses throughout her career. Jean was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary and a valued volunteer at the Knights of Columbus Hall and at the Foyer Notre-Dame-De-Lourdes. Throughout her lifetime, Jean enjoyed various hobbies, such as Tuesday night Bingo, playing cards with friends and family, and hosting annual yard sales. Nothing was more important to Jean than her family, and she cherished all of the gatherings and holidays she spent with them. She will be missed and celebrated every day.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff on 4E at Chaleur Regional Hospital, along with the staff on 4D at Georges Dumont Hospital. They provided her with outstanding and compassionate care.

The family will receive relatives and friends from Elhatton’s funeral Home on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 12 p.m., until depart for the funeral. Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. from Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bathurst.
