The death of Preston Brown, of Brown Crescent, Bathurst, occurred Saturday (August 19, 2006) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Bathurst (North Tetagouche), NB, on December 13, 1923, he was the son of the late Arthur and Jane (Carter) Brown.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was a long-time member of St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder for many years, and sang in the church choir. He worked as a truck driver for many years, retiring from Atlantic Wholesalers in 1983 due to illness. In partnership with his wife, he delivered Meals-on-wheels for twenty years.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eva (Caldwell) Brown of Bathurst.

Lorne Brown, both of Saint John
One daughter:
Rebecca Brown (Mac Tobias) of Saint John
One grandson, Colin.
Many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by one sister, Wanda Cummings, three brothers; William, Clifton (twin) and Carr, as well as two sisters and a brother in infancy.
The body will rest after 2:00 p.m. Monday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday afternoon (August 22, 2006) at 2:00 p.m. from St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, Murray Ave., Bathurst. Visiting hours are Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Burial will be in the United Cemetery, St. Anne St.
