Bathurst - Soeur Imelda Roy, 74, passed away on Friday (November 23, 2007) at the infirmary of the Religieuses Hospitalières de Saint-Joseph, 2144 Vallée Lourdes Drive, Bathurst.
Born in Pointe-Verte on June 24, 1933, she was the daughter of Dorina (Belle Fontaine) Roy and the late Amédée Roy.

Several nieces and nephews.
Soeur Roy entered the Religieuses Hospitalières de Saint-Joseph on August 24, 1950 and completes her vows on August 22, 1952. As a nurse, she worked in the Bathurst, Campbellton and Edmunston Hospitals.
In 1972, she left for missionary work in Peru, where for several years, she worked in a shantytown in Lima and later was the director for those wishing to enter religious life. In 1992, she went to Mexico to work with the youth entering religious studies until 2003.
Upon returning to Canada for health reasons, she battle courageously against cancer and passed away peacefully surrounded by both her family and religious family, all except for her dear mother of 99 years of age, who is presently in the Bathurst Hospital.
The body rested at the maison Notre-Dame de l'Assomption, 2144 Vallée-Lourdes Dr., Bathurst. A prayer service was held Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday afternoon (November 26, 2007) at 3:30 p.m. from the Notre Dame de l’Assomption chapel.
